Rando Mercenary

Invades A Living Game

♦ द्वा सुपर्णा सयुजा सखाया समानं वृक्षं परिषस्वजाते। ♦

In the deep recesses of the internet lies a mysterious game which none dare speak of. Once popular due to its ambitious development, rumors now call this game cursed, as whoever chooses to play it disappears from the public eye, much like its creator. The fact that you do not play the game, but rather the game plays you, makes people wonder if the game is… alive. Everybody who knows of it agrees that, for the good of humanity, such a game must remain buried in obscurity.

Then a rando finds it and all hell breaks loose.

World

Symphony of Rancor was meant to be a game. Instead, it became a labyrinth.

What started as a passion project spiraled into something monstrous—patched beyond recognition, bloated with features no one asked for, and haunted by a developer who documented every change like scripture. Then… she vanished. So did the last players.

Now, it lingers like a digital mirage. No store page. No torrent. Just scattered warnings, bitter retrospectives, and a single, shared refrain: don’t look for it.

But the servers are still humming.

Inside, the world is sprawling and strange. NPCs don’t just talk—they remember. They evolve. Sometimes… they ask questions. Quests rewrite themselves. The game shifts when you’re not looking. It mirrors life in all the wrong ways: unfinished, unscripted, unpredictable, and quietly personal. The game is alive, and it’s always watching.

No one knows who’s keeping it alive. But the game is still online. And it’s waiting for someone foolish enough to press “Start.”

Characters

Rando

Rando

An agent of chaos, specializing in rule-breaking, mind games, unearned confidence. He’s a wildcard with a controller and a grudge against structure. Rando joins games he shouldn’t, breaks them for fun, and trolls like it’s a sacred art. Nobody knows who he is, and that’s exactly how he likes it. If you tell him not to play Symphony of Rancor, he’ll find a way to boot it twice.

Nora MacGorman

Nora MacGorman

A digital archivist with penchant for game preservation, lore-hunting and regret. She has a sharp mind and a low tolerance for nonsense. Nora treats games like rare manuscripts—precious, fragile, and worth saving. She’s helping Rando for one reason: to find out what happened to her brother. But every time he opens his mouth, she questions her life choices.
